Natural Home Scents

You have been working all day, too exhausted to swing by the stores to replenish your favorite room scent, especially since the holidays are coming and you'd like an extra boost to that house party you're planning, or just something to help sit back and relax. We've dedicated this post to helping you put together the perfect pick-me-up for your place. Here are 5 options to explore:
1. Stove Top Air Freshener
This method is simple and uses some basic ingredients you'd be able to find in your kitchen cabinets. Here's a recipe we love and would like to share with you. Feel free to change the ingredients to your liking:

1 orange - sliced
1 lemon - sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tbsp apple cider
1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Combine ingredients in a medium sized pot of water and let boil
  • Reduce heat into a simmer.
  • Let simmer for about 15 mins
  • Turn off burner when the water reaches at the bottom
2. Homemade Jelly Scent

Again, another option where you can use non-toxic supplies that you may already have on-hand, and should only take you about 20 minutes. All it requires is for you to mix some gelatin in a small saucepan of boiling water. Add some salt and cold water to the mix and give it a good stir. Put in your desired essential oils and food colouring of your choice into the glass jars where you'd like your scented jelly to be and pour the hot mixture over. Leave it to cool, and you're done!

3. D.I.Y Room Sprays
This one will get you going in a jiffy. Get a spray bottle, fill it up with filtered water and put in as many drops of your favorite essential oil in accordance to your desired strength of fragrance. If you're feeling adventurous, you could even experiment or look up what kind of fragrance combinations to try.

4. Tea Bag Diffuser.

An absolutely inexpensive but effective option is to put a drop or two of essential oils on three or for tea bags behind your door or in hidden but open spaces.

5. Homemade Potpourri

There are no right or wrong ingredients for the potpourri. Be bold and use a colorful variation of fruits, flowers and spices. Your concoction is sure to smell as amazing as it looks, which makes it also ideal for decorations around the house, or even in the bathroom!
To begin, slice your chosen fruits really thin and bake in the oven for an hour and a half, mix them up with the spices you would like to use in your potpurri concoction and allow them to sit.
